I know I said Rajeev, Shanilla, and Mallory would get their own posts for this hypothetical reboot/ the au, but thinking about it I don't have a lot to say about the three of them to cover an individual post, or a lot of art of them either, so they're gonna share this post.

Out of the three they all didn't really have a lot, Mallory especially, but I changed the most about Rajeev.

Rajeev, now Raj, is gender fluid and goes by He/They or She/they for the most part. He and Shanilla's parents fashion designers who do designs for anything ranging from runway fashion to movie costume designs. Raj is taking fashion design courses at the Beverly Heights private art school to get ahead of the curve, Lolo is also in these classes. They still have a crush on Lolo but it's less...creepy and more so he becomes a doormat for her and her alone. She uses this to her advantage to get Raj to draw her designs for her so she can trace them and turn them in as her own. He's still Spencer's best friend and main actor in their best bros horror films, but he also often throws together cheap outfits he buys themselves so that they don't get their more expensive clothes dirty.

Shanilla is more layed back, she used to run with a group of horse girls when she was in middle school but grew out of that phase at the start of her freshman year upon realizing that she didn't want to surround herself with the kinds of people she was friends with. She does painting and sculpting at the high school she attends with her twin siblings Raj, she often helps Spencer make his props and helps Mallory design small set pieces for the films. She doesn't really have a crush on Spencer in this version, instead she's more interested in his life before living in LA since she's a recovering horse girl and he lived in rural Kansas.

Mallory honestly had nothing going on in the original show other than the fact she was nice so I built her up from scratch. In my version of the show, Mallory had a falling out with Lolo the summer before their first year of highschool, her father owns a successful company and her family is just a bit richer than Lolo's, and they had a severe argument among her finding out that Lolo was pretending to be her friend to get her dad to sell his business to Lolo's dad. When high school started however she started to hang out with Shanilla, since her old friend group crossed over into Mallory's, and Raj and of course Spencer got added when he moved to Beverly Heights. Mallory's kindness is her biggest fault, often over looking obvious red flags to be optimistic and trust somebody that really doesn't deserve it. She does painting and portraiture at the highschool and helps make set pieces and back drops for Spencer's films. She also has an almost deathly fear of ghosts due to seeing a scary movie she shouldn't have watched when she was way too young to watch it, so coincidentally she's scared of Billy at first, but she slowly warms up to him as he teaches her how to not be a class A doormat. Similarly to he and Spencer she has a SIBLING relationship with Billy.

For my designs, again if anything Rajeev changed the most, I just essentially designed a character I'd like whereas Shanilla and Mallory's designs play on their canon designs.

So, what’s so great about “Dude That’s my Ghost”? I’m not saying it’s awful, but I’m curious what makes it so great.

I’m sure most DTMG fans can vouch for me when I say that the show isn’t the best ever produced, despite all the amazing fanart, fanfics and deep headcanons and theories made about it. It never aired in the US, just in the UK and Canada on BBC Kids and Disney XD, respectively, back in 2013 and only had one season with 52 episodes.

It’s a silly, plot-less comedy show made by Robotboy’s creator, Jan Van Rijsselberg, that centers around the ghost of former rock star, Baruch “Billy Joe Cobra” Cohen, who is a parody of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, trying to live his afterlife as if he was still the biggest star who had ever lived, having his start of fame at around 12 years old.

Unfortunately for Billy, who thrives off of attention, he is unable to be seen or heard by everyone unless they wear something that belongs to him. We don’t know how he died, only that Billy died between the ages of 19-27. Popular theories include drive-by shooting, electrocution, and murder.

Most of the episodes consists of Billy’s antics and blatant narcissism causing all sorts of trouble on the lives of his cousin, Spencer Wright-an aspiring horror filmmaker/director-and his friends, Shanilla and Rajeev Bugwatti. 

Spencer’s family had inherited Billy’s mansion and does their best to fit in with their new, rich lifestyle while still acting like a suburban family.

Spencer and Billy have a pretty close relationship, as well…so much so that the majority of the fandom ships them. Spencer really is the only person Billy can reign his ego in and will do almost anything for.

There’s also the frequent attempt of a superfan of Billy’s trying to capture his ghost to keep in her shrine via her henchman.

It’s pretty silly but the episodes are still a lot of fun and animated decently with Flash. Not to mention the music that can be heard (Billy’s singing voice, for example, as well as the background and transition music) is pretty dang good.

I’d highly recommend it if you’re not too set on shows with plotlines and just want some chuckles. Billy is the best part of the show, obviously! 

He gets very creative with his bro-puns and the show is chalk full of them!

Headcanons/the oc-ifications of DTMG characters bc i have a touch of brainrot for my DTMG au, Seeing Spirits.

Billy:

° Baruch Cohen/Billy Joe Cobra was born to a weathy pop artist (Beth Copper) and a Singaporean immigrant (Adriel Cohen) and was into music at an early age thanks to influences from both. He loved learning about his dads culture while his mom dragged him to multiple toddler talent shows and the like, being a stage mom in all reality. This behavior later caused Billy's parents to divorce and since his mom was rich while his dad was not billys mom kept custody over him, later taking full custody by the time he was 12.

° When he was 12 he met jesse and he gave Jesse his necklace, which his mom scolded him for. (The ring on the necklace was actually something his dad gave him, im saying its a baby ring bc i have one of those)

° Billy fired his mom (who was his manager at the time) when he became a popular solo artist at 15, because he picked up her desire for people to be able to offer her something in return and he couldnt see anything she could offer him for being famous since she was a one hit wonder.

° His mom later died that same year from alcohol poisoning and so he inherered her mansion/his childhood home.

° Billy actually went to his dad after his mom died but asked to be emancipated because he found out his dad had remarried and had two other kids and he regrets asking for it. His stepmoms name is Barb and his stepsisters are Carrie (15 in seeing spirits) and Andy (12)

° Billy drank for the first time at 16, he was pressured into it but quicky picked it up as a habit along with marijuana usage, but after his death he cant stand the smell of either substance.

° Billy is Bisexual (like the irl artist Billy Joe Armstrong, whom he is based on) and genderfluid but due to having an image to maintain he tries to hide the fact that he likes boys as well.

° Billy was hit by a drunk driver while fleeing from a block party when he was 19, he died on the scene and instead of calling anybody the driver dumped his body elsewhere out of fear.

° Billy became a ghost the moment he died and he actually walked home, he didnt realize he was a ghost till Spencer moved into his mansion 5 years later.

° Billy has mommy issues, not daddy issues tho, his dad was a good parent. He wishes he could've spent more time with his dad.

Spencer:

•Spencer was born in 1999 and lived in a very small town in Michigan with his parents (Hugh and Jane Wright)and little sister Jessica up until they learned that they were related(though distant) to a famous popstar (Billy) and moved into his house in 2013, when spencer was 14 years old. They were given the house bc they were the only family members that wanted the house

•Spencer's anchor (the item that lets him see Billy) is an old gitaur pick necklace of Billy's. The pick on the necklace is red with a yellow lightning bolt.

•Billy actually threw the necklace at Spencer when he was moving into his room (Spencer's bedroom is Billy's old bedroom) because Billy didn't want them to move into his house. Billy didnt know he was dead at the time either.

•Spencer has depression and parental issues on both ends because his parents favor Jessica. He also has a hard time trusting adults.

•Spencer is pretty good at taking care of himself due to the fact that his parents leave him at home a lot, the old nanny he had (which was also Hugh's nanny) died in 2013 and his parents were gonna force him to go to Jessica's tournaments but he convinced them to let him stay home by himself.

•Spencer had a falling out with Rajeev the summer before junior year bc he kept ratting out his movie plans and other things he was excited to do to Lolo, and when he confronted him about this they had a fight. Hes still really good friends with Shanilla though.

• Spencer is AroAce and autistic.

• Spencer does script writing, Photoshop/advertisement on MeTube, and directing for his films, Shanilla does editing, and Ezekiel/Zeke (a new entry to the friend group/an oc) helps with the camera set up.

• Spencer likes scene/emo clothing styles.

Shanilla and Rajeev:

* Theyre twins but out of the two Rajeev is the most spoiled since hed be the one to pass on the family name while shanilla is the more responsible one of the two. Because of this, shanilla often babysits her brother and he has to go wherever she goes.

* Shanilla used to have a massive crush on Spencer but backed off when he asked her too and came out as AroAce.

* Shanilla's anchor is a rope braclet that Billy had with several music and snake based charms.

* Rajeev kept his anchor because Spencer didn't wanna fight with him to get it back. His anchor is a polished leather belt that belonged to Billy.

* Rajeevs fight with Spencer started because Spencer didn't trust him enough to tell him that he was going to a film camp over the summer because Lolo's dad was sponsoring the trip and Spencer expected that Rajeev would tell Lolo and she would have her dad cancel the trip.

* Rajeev is still forced to hang out with Spencer's friend group because his sister still hangs out with them and he has to go wherever his sister goes.

* Even though they share a birthday Rajeev is the only one who gets a party because Shanilla doesnt like parties and thus doesnt want her own.

QUICK, WHO'S FAVE: Billy Joe Cobra or Papá Hector?

Why must you hurt me by making me choose between my favorite dead musicians, anon? _(:3」∠)_

I still absolutely adore Billy, especially when he’s bonding with his cousin, Spencer, and Cheer!Billy is still very much love. He’s very talented, no doubt thanks to the mind-blowing singing and beatboxing skills of Darren “Beardyman” Foreman, and comes through for Spence even through his most absurd diva fits. Billy is always willing to make things up to him in the end because that’s what besties and family do!

Billy might be a egotistical, selfish jerk at times, but he very much cares a lot about Spencer, Shanilla, and Rajeev since they treat him as normal, best friend-material Baruch Cohen and not the pop-star, attention-seeking Billy Joe Cobra.

However, I’m leaning more towards Papá Héctor since not only does he remind me of my own late dad in that he’s very paternal, caring, protective, and funny, but his bond with his great-great grandson, Miguel, and his daughter, Coco, just makes me melt everytime I see any of their interactions! He is my favorite Pixar character and Coco is my new favorite movie!!

Gael García Bernal’s voice is also so pleasing to listen to, especially when he sings “Remember Me” and “Un Poco Loco”!!! He just gives Papá Héctor that special charm that I would find it hard to imagine anyone else as him! Plus Papá Héctor‘s design and personality is just so fun!!!

Sorry Billy, I still love you a lot! I promise!!!

I got another headcanon that was based on the one from “Coco” about Miguel being able to see the dead after his adventures in the Land of the Dead on Dia de los Muertos.

It got me thinking...Spencer has gotten into so many mishaps on a daily basis all because of his cousin, Billy Joe Cobra, and his powerful ectoplasm that is capable of mutating living and inanimate things into gruesome monsters, evil villains, or ghosts by either crying on said objects or for the ectoplasm to be absorbed or consumed.

As we all know, Spencer lost the guitar pick necklace that enables his to see Billy’s ghost in “House Haunts”, supposedly for good since it was incinerated-or was it? In the following episodes, namely “Merman”, he’s shown shirtless and not having the necklace on at all, even if he had miraculously got it back. If Hugh was the one who made the pest control system, then there’s a 50/50 chance that it would or wouldn’t work and the necklace would still be intact for Spencer to have Billy retrieve later; using the sunglasses Billy totally didn’t forget he still had on him in the meantime.

But if what if the necklace had been destroyed? 

This leads me to the headcanon: what if all the exposure to Billy’s ectoplasm throughout the series and being turned into a ghost in “The Ghost of Spencer Wright” had begun to eventually provide some side effects for Spencer and they just didn’t begin to take affect until sometime after “House Haunts”?

What if Spencer had then gained the ability to see ghosts without the need to wear a personal artifact of theirs?

Powerful, experienced ghosts like Bobby (and Billy, for awhile, in “Evil Billy”) have been shown to be able to be seen by alive people without this hindrance, but Billy is still pretty much a weakling compared to him, despite being dead longer and having all the cool powers he has. He still has to follow Ghost 101 rules (or make use of bird droppings to become temporarily visible), probably because he’s so self-absorbed and thinks about himself rather than honing his ghost abilities-of which he only has a few of the basics down pat. But with Spencer’s new ability, this is no longer an issue and could explain how in “Merman”, he was still able to see and talk to Billy, much to the egotistical pop-star diva’s delight.

What about Shanilla and Rajeev, though? The twins wear Billy’s watch and belt respectively to be able to see him. However, in “Trouble With Hairy”, the watch seems to have been missing from Shanilla’s right wrist, unless it was under her bracelet, though it seems unlikely since that just seems uncomfortable and probably wouldn’t fit right. 

And in “Merman”, unless Rajeev had it on under his swim trunks, the belt was also absent. However, one could argue he was borrowing a pair of Billy’s or a pair of his sandals. But that wouldn’t explain how Rajeev was able to still see Billy in “The Sleepover” (which is 6 episodes after “Merman”) , when he clearly had on nothing but his underwear (and I highly doubt those belonged to Billy, too):

If it’s not the case of forgettable writers...what if they also gained this ability? The two of them have also been exposed to enough of Billy’s ectoplasm and could have been experiencing the same side effects at different times than Spencer.

Who better than to have the power of seeing ghosts than Billy’s own Cobra Squad and bromigos, right?
